about US
Kipture Primary School is located in the western part of Kenya, not far from Kapsabet town. The school offers the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). The KPS Foundation originated from a visit to Kenya by Creigh Kelley in 2003. Creigh traveled to Kapsabet with Peter Tanui to visit his home country and fell in love with the people and their culture. Creigh saw a need and before even leaving the country, began to sketch out the framework for the Foundation. His simple goal was to build a Library and Kitchen/Dining Hall for the school.
That dream became a reality in 2008, and through generous cash donations from our friends and families across the US. The foundation continues to enhance both buildings at the school and raise funds to support a medical clinic, which benefits the entire community where KPS children reside.
Peter Tanui, a graduate of Kipture Primary School, is the President of the Foundation. He was the first student from KPS to attend and graduated from an American college, Lubbock Christian University. Peter lives now most of the year in Colorado and visits Kenya regularly with American friends who support the foundation. Creigh and group friends enjoy visiting Kenya to see the foundation projects, visit with School children, enjoy the hospitality of the Kenyan people, and go for a safari in Maasai Mara.
